WEEK 1 - JUNE 24 - 27

Animals in Art
(entering 1st grade and older)
All new projects from previous years! No fear of repeats. Using a variety of materials and some famous artists as inspiration we will create watercolor paintings, tempera paintings on canvas and metal toolings. We will work on at least two projects a day with a break in the middle for a snack and a stretch. Taught by SPF Elementary teacher, Ms. Downs.

Challenger Soccer 
Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily World Cup tournament.
 
WEEK 2 - JULY 1 - JULY 3
 
International Art Tour
(entering 1st grade and older)
Explore and create Art styles from around the world, including Mexican Oaxacan sculpture, Asian sumi-e ink fans and African Ndebele dolls. Using a variety of materials children will learn a little bit about the worlds’ cultures as they are reflected in art. We will work on at least two projects a day with a break in the middle for a snack and a stretch. Taught by SPF Elementary teacher, Ms. Downs.
Lax Academy Lacrosse Camp
Our lacrosse camp is great for young boys and girls who have little experience, or who are trying the sport for the first time. Throughout the week the campers will practice stick skills (passing, catching and ground balls), will play mini-games and have daily contests. Only equipment needed is a lacrosse stick.
 
WEEK 3 - JULY 8 - JULY 11

MadScience Eureka: The Inventor’s
Camp (entering 2nd grade and older)
Children will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and the most important of all – their mind. With a little bit of ingenuity children will create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks to take home and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs. While Thomas Edison said “invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration”, this camp is 100% FUN!

Hoops There It Is” Basketball Camp
During summer camp we will perform a hoops progress report at the beginning and end of the week which the children will take home and be able to continue to improve their skills. They will also receive a free camp picture. Our coaches get to know your child’s “game” personally so that we can maximize their potential. Children will learn new skills, play fun games that reinforce their newly taught skills. “Hoops There It Is” is a fun-da-mentally sound choice for your child this summer! See you at the Hoops.

Bricks4Kidz Extreme Expedition
(entering 1st grade and older)
Extreme brick adventures ahead! Face forces of nature and construct transportation equipment to bring your team together from around the globe to complete your mission!

LA Sports Academy Multi-Sport Camp
Our multi-sports camps offers a unique variety of sports and activities. A typical camp day starts with a dynamic warm-up followed by an aerobic activity. From there the children could take part in full field touch football, or a world cup soccer competition. On the diamond they will play everything from kickball to tennis baseball. On the basketball court there might be mini games, knockout basketball, or races. Everyday will bring a different array of sports.
 
WEEK 5 - JULY 22 - JULY 25

Fantasy & Sci-Fi Art
(entering 1st grade and older)
Love Dragons, unicorns, fairies, wizards and more? The world of mythical creatures, sci-fi creations and fantasy worlds will be explored through a mulitude of art media. We will use plaster wrap, paint on canvas panels, collage and more as we craft our artworks. Children work on at least two projects a day with a break in the middle for a snack and a stretch. Taught by SPF Elementary teacher, Ms. Downs.

MadScience Funky Forensics
(entering 2nd grade and older)
Focus on the science of forensics in this hands-on look at crime scenes. Identify and collect evidence, from fingerprints to tracks to trash! Recreate the scene of a crime using clues and detailed observations. Campers will use science to connect the dots and help sniff out the suspects in this hands-on investigation into the science of sleuthing. 

Volleyball Camp
Are you interested in learning how to set, spike, and play one of the most fun sports? Coach Joan McGuire played volleyball and in St. John University and coached a very successful middle school program for six years. She is ready to bring all her skills, knowledge, and love of the game to your child this summer. Players will learn the fundamentals, rules, skills, and proper team play concepts. Joan has been involved in education for 14 plus years now and has been a successful youth coach for years now. Children will never forget this memorable experience with a fantastic coach!

WEEK 6 - JULY 29 - AUGUST 1

Artwork Inspired by Nature
(entering 1st grade and older)
Many artists have been inspired by the beauty of the world around us. This class will allow young artists to do the same. We will look at the work of master artists but also draw from our own experiences as we create landscapes, still life pastels, fruit/vegetable print-making and low relief sculptures. We will work on at least two projects a day with a break in the middle for a snack and a stretch. Taught by SPF Elementary teacher, Ms. Downs.

Bricks4Kidz Minecraft
(entering 1st grade and older)
Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks, in this specialty camp you will be using LEGOS. You will have the chance to build structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, work together to create wonderful, imaginative things. We will also be out and about adventuring with friends and watching the sun rise over a blocky ocean. Brave players battle terrible things in The Nether, which is more scary than pretty. You can also visit a land of mushrooms if it sounds more like your cup of tea. A chance to let your imagination run wild!

“Hits There It Is” Baseball Camp
We coach from beginner to all star players. During summer camp we will perform a progress report at the beginning and end of the week which the children will take home and be able to continue to improve their skills. Theywill also receive a free camp picture.Our coaches get to know your child’s“game” personally so that we can maximize their baseball potential. Children will learn new skills, play fun games that reinforce their newly taught baseball skills. At “Hits There It Is” Baseball Camp, you child is “SAFE” with us! The only equipment needed is a glove. If you have a bat you my bring it.

WEEK 7 - AUGUST 5 - AUGUST 8

MadScience Survival! Predators & Prey
(entering 2nd grade and older)
Predator or Prey; which will you be? In our newly revamped Nature camp, kids will learn how animals, big and small, adapt to life here on earth. Campers will learn how birds and beasts catch their prey without becoming someone else’s lunch and will then be challenged to survive in the pulse pounding “Food Chain Survival” game. Kids will also discover what Mr. Owl had on his dinner plate during the famous owl pellet dissection. We’ll also have fun finding and magnifying Natures smaller critters—from insects to pond slime. Campers will build a real birdhouse to take home and will have creepy-crawly fun building a bughouse and searching for tenants! In addition, kids will enjoy hands-on fun learning how changes in wind, water and temperature can affect Earth’s inhabitants.

La Sports Academy’s Tennis Camp
We coach from beginner to all star players. Our coaches get to know your child’s “game” personally so that we can maximize their tennis potential. Children will learn new skills, play fun games that reinforce their newly taught tennis skills. Joan McGuire, head coach played tennis in college for Saint John’s University and also has several years of experience as sports camp director for “College for Kids Program” in Union County College. She is also a 14 year educator. This summer’s tennis camp your child will enjoy a “grand slam” experience!

Fashion Workshop
(entering 1st grade and older)
Calling all fabulous fashionistas – looking for that perfect outfit? Learn to make it yourself! We’ll teach you the ins and outs of fashion design from top to bottom, head to toe - the possibilities are endless as we show you how to tap your creative genius. You’ll create an entire ensemble, including shirt/ blouse and skirt/shorts to show off for the rest of the year. And because no look is complete without a bit of flair, we’ll make some fun accessories such as belts, scarves and hair pieces. Our Fashion Instructors guide you through every step of the process, from construction to final fitting. And since every young designer deserves their day on the runway, we’ll celebrate the end of the season with a fashion show for friends and family!

Chess Camp
(entering 1st grade and older)
Chess Camp is for beginner to advanced beginner chess players. The program will introduce children to the game of chess by teaching basic fundamentals. It will focus on critical thinking and problem solving through chess strategy and tactics. A creative format is used to teach and reinforce math, reading and language art skills. Program is enjoyable as well as challenging.

Bricks4Kidz Animal Grossology
(entering 1st grade and older)
Spend the week constructing crazy creatures and learning weird but true facts about the animal kingdom to become a certified Bricks4Kidz Grossologist.
